What is HIPAA?
HIPAA
is the acronym for the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability
Act of 1996. There are two main provisions of HIPAA:
| |

 |
TITLE
I: Health Insurance Reform—designed to protect health
insurance coverage for workers and their families when they
leave or lose their jobs. |

 |
TITLE
II: Administrative Simplification—requires national
standards for electronic health care transactions and national
identifiers for providers, health plans, and employers. It
also addresses security and privacy of health data. |
How Does HIPAA Affect Your Practice?
